Winona Laura Horowitz professionally known as Winona Ryder was born in Winona Minnesota. The parents of her daughter named her after her hometown. His father Michel Horowitz and her mother Cynthia Palmer were authors and editors. Ryder's dad came from the Jewish family. Ryder considers her self Jewish. Ryder is the younger sister of Uria and two half-siblings Jubal and Sunyata. When Ryder was only seven her family moved from Mendocino County, California. Mendocino County California. The family didn't have electricity. Ryder became an avid read because they had no television. Ryder, then 12, enrolled at the American Conservatory Theatre for acting classes in 1983. At the age of 15years old, Ryder was offered her very first role on the screen in Lucas. Ryder suffered bullying in her high school. She hoped acting would bring about a change. But it wasn't to come to be. It didn't stop her from pursuing dreams. Beetlejuice which was a 1988 Tim Burton film, was her debut big breakthrough. Ryder continued to be successful in her characters in numerous films. There were two Academy Awards were nominated, one of which was for The Age of Innocence (1996).
